Gehr GmbH (Mannheim, Germany) is a family-owned global leader in semi-finished thermoplastic products. The latest addition to the company’s Eco-GEHR™ product family is renewable Eco-GEHR PLA-HI sheets, which are made from extremely tough and 90% bio-based ArcBiox™ A-series produced by Arctic Biomaterials.

Mr. Helmut Gehr, the owner of Gehr GmbH elaborates:

“The first precondition for sustainable products is high-quality raw materials. Secondly, our Eco-GEHR product family is designed to reduce the use of fossil oil-based raw materials. The ArcBiox A-series covers both of these requirements with its excellent impact performance and high renewable content.”

About Eco-GEHR PLA-HI sheets

With more than 80 years of experience in plastics production, the Gehr product portfolio includes high-quality sheets, rods, hollow bars and other profiles via extrusion. The Eco-GEHR PLA-HI sheets are readily available in sizes of 100 cm x 200 cm, with thicknesses from 2 mm up to an impressive 4 mm. Finished products can be made from the sheets e.g. by deep-drawing, imprinting, gluing, sawing, thermoforming, drilling or punching them.

About ArcBiox A-series

The ArcBiox A-series is a great bio-based alternative e.g. for fossil oil-based acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). According to various life-cycle analysis (LCA) scenarios, the CO2 footprint is reduced by 60-75% when comparing the A-series and fossil-oil based ABS. Furthermore, the video below illustrates how sheets made from A-series have superior impact properties compared to ABS:
