We are looking for a teammate, R&D Engineer, for our New Technologies Team!

Arctic Biomaterials Oy is a company producing bio-based and/or biodegradable compound and composite solutions. Our company’s innovative technology creates biodegradable fiber reinforced and various other composite materials. These materials meet the requirements of medical and technical applications while providing a sustainable alternative to various oil-based plastics. In the medical field, we offer bioresorbable composite solutions with increased strength and in the technical field, we offer biodegradable composite solutions for demanding technical applications.

You: R&D Engineer

You will strengthen our Medical R&D team. You will participate in the development of fiber polymer composite manufacturing technologies, evaluate and introduce new methods and solutions to complete the path from material to product. The position requires a good understanding of material processing and the related equipment.  You cooperate with other personnel and departments who will contribute to your R&D work and are depending on your input.

To be successful in this position, you should have:

  • Sc. or B.Sc. degree either in materials science, polymer engineering, biomaterials engineering, or similar education and materials processing background in the field of science and engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in research and development in the area of materials and production
  • Experience in machining, manufacturing, 3D design is desired.
  • Good understanding of material analysis (chemical & structural, mechanical)
  • Analytical and structured approach to work
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of working in a regulated industry, like a medical device industry, is an advantage
  • Creative problem-solving skills, interpret and accurately report results and draw conclusions
  • Fluent Finnish and English language skills, both spoken and written
